Program Details
Curriculum & Rotation Schedule
PGY1 - focuses on core principles of assessment and treatment of patients. Residents' time will be spent on primary care and neurology (with time spent in primary care offices and outpatient medicine, as well as inpatient medicine). Other areas of concentration are Inpatient Psychiatry and Emergency Psychiatry.
- Inpatient Psychiatry- 4 months
- Emergency Psychiatry Services with Integrative Medicine component -2 months
- Internal Medicine - 3 months
- Neurology -2 months
- Outpatient Family Medicine - 1 month
PGY2 - focuses on specialty rotations as well as community based psychiatric experiences. Time will be spent on each of the following: Inpatient, Consultation-Liaison, Child psychiatry, forensic programs, Substance Use Disorders, and the Veterans Administration.
- Inpatient Psychiatry -2 months
- Child & Adolescent Psychiatry//Forensic Psychiatry -2 months
- Consultation Liaison Psychiatry -3 months
- Substance Use Disorders//Sleep Medicine-2 months
- VA Rotation (Geri) -2 months
- Neuromodulation/ketamine- 1 month
PGY3 - focuses on Outpatient Psychiatry in the Hackensack Meridian Health Network of Locations, looking at all aspects of Outpatient Psychiatry (Adult, Child and Adolescent, Geriatric and Addiction Psychiatry).

Curriculum
Our Core Didactics Curriculum covers all major topics and incorporates gender, racial, and cultural perspectives with a diverse, comprehensive curriculum that occurs throughout residents four years of training. Residents have protected time each week for didactics. PGY1 and PGY2 residents have protected time on Thursday afternoons and PGY3 and PGY4 have protected time on Tuesday afternoons. Residents are protected for Grand Rounds, which take place Wednesday mornings.
